Permission option in Powerpoint 2007

R

Rayees

I'm using office 2007, and using windows XP proffessional.

All updates and patches are installed, IRM client is installed (Microsoft
Windows Rights Management Services Client with Service Pack 2 - x86)

I'm Part of a domain, and connected to the network.

I would like to create protected documents , but the
permissions button is not available in any of the office applications.

Does anyone have any ideas how to enable this feature?

Regards
Rayees

Hi Rayees,

The permission button is not shown up in Office 2007 by default. We can click the Office button > Prepare > Restrict Permissions >
Restricted Access to create protected documents.

If you would like to get the permission button directly in the Office applications, refer to the steps below.
------------------------------
1. In Word 2007, click the Office button > Word Options.
2. Click Customize.
3. In the right pane, in 'Choose commands from', choose 'All Commands' > choose Permissions > click Add. Thus, the permission
button is added in the quick access toolbar in Word 2007.
4. Click OK.
5. Are you able to locate the permission button on the top-left of the Word 2007 window?

For other Office applications, please repeat the above steps accordingly. If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns,
please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin

Information Rights Management for Office 2007 is only available in Office
Professional Plus, Office Enterprise, (both volume license) and Office
Ultimate which is a retail version.

While you can add the Permissions button to your Quick Access Toolbar in
other suites, it doesn't function.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email cannot be acknowledged.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the great sharing!

Hi Rayees,

The information which Beth provided is exactly correct. This information is also described in the Word 2007 Help content.

In the Word help topic 'Protection features in Word ' > Under 'Restrict Permission' > there is a Note: The Restrict Permission feature is
available only in 2007 Microsoft Office Ultimate, available through retail outlets, or 2007 Microsoft Office Professional Plus and 2007
Microsoft Office Enterprise, both available through volume licensing.

Which version of Office 2007 are you using? If you are not using the above described edition, the 'Restrict permission' is not availabe. By
the way, editing restrictions can be set by using the 'Protect Document' choice in the Review tab of Word 2007.

Hope the information is helpful for you! If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Lin,

Hi Rayees,

Appreciate your update and response. I understand that you are using Office 2007 Professional Edition and permission button is not
available in this edition. If necessary, using the 'Protect Document' choice in the Review tab to restrict editing.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is always my pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day!

Hello Emily,

I also want to restrict access to files using Information Rights Management
in Office 2007. I was wondering if a plain version of Office 07 (Pro or
below) will be able to open files and modify it, but will not have to
restrict access at there end.
