permission to object denied

This is a strange one. On a W2K PC with Office97 SR2b.
From Groupwise (Novell e-mail system) trying to open a
Excel attachment, get the error message 'Permission to
ojbect denied'.

I have also seen this with the same version of Windows and
Office, but trying to open a saved Excel spreadsheet (not
an attachment in e-mail). However it doesn't do it to
every Excel file.

I have given all users full control to the Office registry
keys, but this didn't make a difference.

Any ideas?
