Permissions and Object Owners

Hi, all,

I've got a secured Access 2003 db w/3 users set up as Admins. The Admins
also have Modify Design permission on all tables/queries.

For some reason, my database won't allow anyone in the Admins group other
than the object owner to modify the query design. Any idea what I'm doing
wrong?

We're running Windows XP. These 3 users have read/write access to the
shared folder where the Db resides.

As always, thanks in advance for your help,

What message do you get? Also, they would need to open the mdb exclusively to make design changes.

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the "Recon Query" object.
Have your system administrator or the person who created the object establish
the appropriate permissions for you."

If you are certain that the users have modify design permission to the Recon Query, check to see if it is set to RWOP - you could change the owner to the Admins Group rather than a user.

Hi, Joan,

I tried to change the owner to "Admins" but I got a message that said, "You
don't have permission to change the owner of this object." I've
double-checked my permissions, and I definately have that.

What should I try next?

Thanks,

Is this a RWOP query? You have to login as the user that currently owns the query. You'll then be able to change the owner.

The error occurs if I try to change the design of a form, report, or query.
And I am the owner of the object, so it should allow me to change the owner.
Unfortunately, it doesn't allow me to do so.

Any ideas?

I haven't heard of this before. If you are logging in as the owner then you should be able to change the ownership and/or permissions on the object.

The only thing I can think of is that the object is owned by someone else.
