Perplexing problem with F8 key

Ok, I love stepping thru code using the F8 key, what can I say? Last week,
I got a new monitor, (LG W2240T) and now when I hit the F8 key in Access the
monitor turns half dark with the LG logo, like it is in some reduced power
mode. (The monitor responds this way all the time, not just in Access -- I
think it is what they call a "feature").

Access ignores my F8 keypresses, so I have to repeatedly use the mouse and
click the step into selection on the debug menu..... a real pain.

Has anyone experienced this problem, and can it be fixed? LG's website, by
the way, is next to useless.

Have you tried checking your monitor advanced properties to see if there
are monitor hot-key definitions that you can modify or disable?

Yes,
I have tried everything I could think of. Also talked with NVidia's chat
person, thinking it might be the graphics card, but we ended up agreeing
that it wasn't the graphics card. Incidentally, the Logo that shows may not
be the LG logo. It is two gears, a larger 9 tooth one, and a smaller 6
tooth gear. Simple logo, but I can't find it anywhere on the web....

Bummer. Does the problem go away if you switch to some other monitor?
(Or your original monitor.)

Do you have a system restore point you can revert to?

It is not your Monitor. It is not your graphics card. It is your
graphics driver. Which has detected an energy saving mode
on your new Monitor.

NVidia provides the chipset, and a reference driver. ATI, MSI, Sapphire,
Zotac have all made NVidia graphics cards in the past, and provided software
like ATI's "Catalyst Control Centre", which has a "Hotkeys" setting.

It is possible that the software you installed with your monitor recognised
the graphics card (rather than the other way around), and installed a
plug-in into your graphics driver software, but I don't believe it.

I think the NVidia chat person was wrong. In any case, did a CD come with
the Monitor? Did a CD come with the graphics card? Have another look for any
'advanced' or 'options' buttons on your display settings and on your power
settings.

Thanks, David.

I searched the install disc and couldn't find any mention of hotkeys, etc.
I did notice on NVidia's website that a previous version of
their software did provide for that, however. I am e-mailing Nvidia
requesting some help. Will post back if this issue is ever resolved.

In case anyone has a similar problem, I traced the F8 key to, of all things,
a Yahoo widget running on my desktop! As soon as I
disabled it, the F8 key was no longer triggering the second window and
Access debug works normally.

What a hassle finding this.
