Persistent Odd Behavior

I have posted this before and never seen an explanation.
If I have any conditional formatting of any column on a worksheet, where the
derived value in the cell is set to a clear color so that the cell appears
blank if its value is zero, in Excel 2007 then I am unable to see typing in
any cell as I enter it, only in the status bar.
If a value is being auto-filled there is a black bar inside the cell.
Only when I hit the enter key will the appropriate text or numbers appear in
the cell.
The ribbon of abomination and now this: I can't wait for the next version of
Excel.
In a much earlier version of Excel, during the Win 3.x days, I had a simple
formula that returned a result that was off by one cent. I even sent the
spread sheet and the values to Microsoft and they denied it could happen,
although they affirmed that the formula was correct and the numbers were
accurately entered. I had to manually correct the result every time. My
book-keeper was quite amused because she was still using paper ledgers and
was more accurate than Excel. Then Microsoft announced a problem in the way
values were calculated and the problem disappeared in the next version of
Excel.
The more things change . . .
