Personal.xls

Karen

When I open Excel (2003) the personal.xls opens. I don't know how this was
changed - How do I restore it to it's original state?

Thank you, Karen

Perhaps have a look in 'tools'...'options'....'general' tab and see if there
is anything in the place that says 'At startup open all files.....etc'

Thank you for your help - When I go to the General Tab, the text box next to
"At start-up, open all files in:" is empty.

Does this mean you don't need/want that personal.xls workbook to open?

Or do you mean that you need personal.xls, but don't want it to open so you can
see it?

If you don't need it (watch out, you may have created a macro in that workbook
that you actually use!), you can close excel and delete that file.

windows start button|search|personal.xls
(move it out of the way or delete it)

If you want the workbook to be hidden ('cause you want those macros), you can
open excel
with personal.xls visible
window|hide
close excel and answer yes to the "wanna save personal.xls with the changes"
(the changes are that you hid it.)

Reopen excel and personal.xls will still be open, but it'll be hidden.
