Phone sync for Entourage

I

Ian Goldsmith

Is there any s/w out there that can sync my motorola T720 with the
addressbook and calendar I Entourage X. I have just switched from Windows
XP and Outlook, and this is the only thing I can't figure out how to do.

Ian

Sent using the Entourage X Test Drive.

No, Entourage does not currently sync directly with mobile phones. You
certainly can submit your suggestions for devices to synchronize with
Entourage. You can send the suggestion in Entourage X by going to Help ->
Send Feedback on Entourage. Otherwise, click this link to enter Mac Product
Feedback:

Your only option, described below is a workaround by exporting information
from Entourage into the Apple applications and using iSync to sync this
theoretically will work for a one-time transfer but true synchronization
won't work using this method:

One could synchronize contacts with his/her phone by synchronizing the
Entourage Address Book with the System Address Book using drag-and-drop or
Paul Berkowitz's ³Sync Entourage-Address Book² scripts to transfer them
perfectly <http://www.applescriptcentral.com/ftpinwin.php?id=362>.

Then you need to import Entourage calendar data into iCal. Launch iCal, and
then go to File -> Import. Choose "Import Entourage Data", and then click
the "Import" button. When you see all of your data imported, it's then time
to synchronize with the phone.

I understand that iCal 1.0.2 has improved importing of calendar data from
Entourage, so you might want to download that before you try this.

Synchronize the System Address Book and iCal with the phone via iSync -
that's probably the best workaround. Note that you need to get iSync 1.1
(free) to sync with the newest mobile phones.

Unfortunately, once you are done with all of these strange contortions, it
might be hard to actually synchronize again since you are editing data in
Entourage, and you need to convert everything over to the Apple applications
each time you synchronize. So this method is better as a one-way one-time
transfer.

This is the only method Mickey mentioned which will allow regular syncing,
not just a one-off export of all contacts every time. But once again it
won't work with the Test Drive - you'll have to wait until you have the full
version of Entourage.
