Photo Editor PROBLEMS

RobbLL

I'm stumped...Photo Editor 3.01 used to work fine, but now when I go to FILE
| OPEN I see Files of type: All Files marked as " *.tif " in the dropdown. I
also have the choice of Tag Image File Format (*.tif) again, and All Files
(*.*)

If I click on All Files (*.*) I can see all of the JPEG files in My Pictures
tagged as a
good *.jpg. but when I go to open those in Photo Editor an error message
appears
as: Photo Editor cannot find or open the file c:\...mypics\*.jpg.tif. Note
the new tag "*.jpg.tif" !

Does anyone have a clue how to repair this problem?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Rob,

That is an odd one. From the description the first guess
would be that the files were saved as .TIF files but that
.jpg was included as part of the name, but it could be
an association glitch.

What file format do those pictures appear in if you use
http://irfanview.com or other graphic app to preview them
or if you use Insert=>Picture from File in Word with the
[x] Confirm conversions at open option turned on in
Tools=>Options=>General?

Thanks for the rapid reply, but unfortunately that which you have suggested
is simply not the case...every pic file is properly tagged as a good, clean
*.jpg, *.gif, etc. and does not have two tags...I can open and work with
these pics with Paint Shop Pro, IE, Irfanview, Picasa or Word with no
problem...it is only the Photo Editor that causes the files to be whacked out
and double-tagged.

Interstingly, I can also CUT and PASTE any of these pic files into Photo
Editor, but when I go to save them, PE wants to rename with them with double
tags...very weird, eh?

Any other thoughts are really appreciated as I have uninstalled,
reinstalled, cleaned
registries per Microsoft's suggestions, updated the graphics filter and
everything
else I could dream of....no luck at all. Am using WIN 2K, Office 2K with
SP3....WHAT
A BUMMER!
