Photo Gallery

I am utilizing the standard 2003 photo gallery layouts, but would like to
create new pages for photo galleries that are more specific in layout. My
wife is an artist and we are using Frontpage 2003 to create her site
(www.katepetley.com). I would like to create photo gallery pages that have a
page of thumbnails with text ( title and info) directly below the thumb, then
the viewer could click the thumb to view the larger image. Ex: Under the
page header with her name and row of nav buttons, rows of 4-5 thumbs across
with 2-4 rows total, each thumb having its corresponding title and info
directly underneath the thumb. The preset layouts don't seem to have the
capacity to modify the spacing of the text or images within the format (horz
or vert) so we have been using the slide show and some folks who use Mac seem
to have trouble viewing the slides, not sure why. I haven't been able to wrap
my mind around the rollover effect, but that is something I am interested in
using later. I want to understand how to create the new page with thumbs and
the file/page where the full size images would need to be in order for the
links from thumb to full image to work. If the page needs to be set up with
tables I haven't been able to create what I want yet, so any help or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many experts on this NG suggest other software thna PhotoGallery -JAlbum,
for one.I havent tried JAlbum, but perhaps I should.

What I have done is set up my own photogallery. To see it, go to my site and
click on Picture Album and then Personal Photo Gallery (Click to Enter).
There are two options:
1. To run a slideshow either image by image or automatically changing images
every 5 seconds (the slideshow button)
2. To view each image in a larger size - just click the image.

The code is all there on the website, but is a little too much to post here.
It is not complex, but is quite a few interlinked modules of HTML and JS
(and some CSS). One of these days I am going to simplify the code a bit so
that there are fewer places that need updating to install/amend it.

BTW, also have a look at Eleanor sites. She has great photogalleries.

Look for her on this NG (signature ETC). Here is one reference
http://www.eleanorstravels.com/PhotoGalleryPrograms/index.htm. It in fact
addresses the topic Alternatives to FrontPage Photo Galleries
