photo quality when converting to pdf

When I convert a Word document to a pdf, the color quality is lost. For
example, in a photograph, the people's faces turn bright red and a maroon
colored table or text box will turn bright pink. How do I avoid this
happening?

What version of Word?

How exactly are you converting it to PDF? Using what software?

What file format was the original photo in?

Was it an RGB or CMYK image?

I'm using Microsoft Office Word 2007. There is an option on the tool bar to
convert the document to a pdf, so I just click on that. The picture is saved
as a jpg in Microsoft Office Picture Manager. It is a RGB image. I would
appreciate any help you could provide.

That doesn't help much, I'm afraid. There aren't any toolbars in Word 2007.

Is this one of the options when you click Office Button | Save As or is it
something else?
