Photogallery & duplicate Pictures

I not sure if this is happening or not. I'm concerned that I'm duplicating
all pictures in my photo gallery which of course will wasted diskspace.
Here is what I've done:
I physically moved all pictures into the correct folder. This means they
were imported by FP2003. I then added the photo gallery component. Within
the component, I added the pictures that I want to display. Everything
works fine, however, when I view the folders (in FP) it appears that the
picture are in two places. The display in the original folder where I
imported them. In addition, the component created another folder named
photoxxxxx. In there, is the list of picture again.

I just want to make sure I don't run out of diskspace. The main purpose of
this site is for displaying pictures.

Thanks

no sweat.
the "other" folder is just the thumbnails. to verify just switch to folders
view and check the file sizes. they should be much smaller than "your"
pictures.
also, in that folder is a page called real.htm if you open it, right click
the first thumbnail and select hyperlink properties, you'll be able to set
it's target as _blank (new window) then check the box for make page default
and all your pictures will open in a new window. you'll have to re-do this
every time you open the gallery with the photogallery dialog box though.
some people like the full-size to open in a new window so if someone closes
it they don't escape the site entirely.

Thanks for the information.
Actually in my case, I don't want it to open in another window. It needs to
remain embedded in my frameset. At least I know I'm not wasting space.

Then you need to set the target value to the name of the frame that you want
the photo to load in, following Chris' instructions.

you're not. ;-) if you really want to make sue it opens in a frameset there
is a JavaScript at www.echoecho.com that will call the frameset if your
gallery index page should be called without it.
