Photogallery montage thumbnail size problem

I use FP2002 and can't seem to get the thumbnail sizes for different
pictures in the gallery to maintain the correct aspect ratio/size. It seems
that if I change the size of one thumbnail the size is applied to the other
thumbnail images in the gallery even though I don't have the use as default
box ticked and have the maintain aspect ratio box ticked. This is fouling up
the aspect ratio on images that aren't the same size as the one I changed.
Seems to have a mind of its own.

6. By now all the images have been added and you can move them up or down to
get the correct order and you can change the size of the thumbnails. And
they don't all have to be the same size. Notice that you should click the
"Maintain aspect ratio" box twice to properly set both dimensions.
