Physical % Conmplete Not Rolling Up to All Summary Tasks

I believe I have followed all the MS instructions for making this
happen. But there are 2 summary tasks that show a value of 0% for
Physical % Complete. All other summary tasks (including the 1st level
summary task) show a composite Physical % Complete. In the MS
instructions, 3 criteria are listed for "forcing" Project to roll
Physical % Complete up to summary tasks:

1) Earned value calculation is set to Physical % Complete (which I
believe I have done)
2) Resource assignments on tasks have a Standard Rate (which I believe
is true)
3) The baseline value used for Earned Value Calculation is populated

I was not sure about #3 so I saved a new baseline (with a new name).

I have run into this problem before when someone added a new task and
did not set the Earned Value Method to Physical % Complete for the new
task. As soon as I set the Earned Value Method to Physical % Complete
for the new task, the rollup to the summary task occurred.

Additional background: the 2 summary tasks that are not showing the
rollup are 2 that I created after the baseline had been saved when I
needed to regroup some primitive tasks. As I imply above, the Earned
Value Method is set to Physical % Complete for every task in the
schedule. But I cannot tell you the order in which that was done.

Thanks so much for any an all inputs.

Hello ritpg,

Try inserting the Earned Value method field (column) and ensure that
you haven't missed a task set to Physical % complete.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Check the baseline used for EV Calculations. Tools/Options/Calculation (tab)
click Earned Value.... button. You need to verify there is time phased
baseline cost data for this stated baseline in the tasks you have in
question. This means if the EV Calc is set to "Baseline" and you baselined
the selected tasks to "Baseline2" then your Physical%Complete will remain 0
(becuase you have nothing in "Baseline" for those tasks).

You can add the tasks in question to the EV Baseline (hopefully they have
not started). Select the desired tasks, when saving the baseline select the
option for "selected tasks" and then select both the roll-up check boxes.

The most common causes for your problems are (1) Mixed EV Methods within the
summary task, (2) Tasks without baseline.

If you have already started the work, you will need to back out your
progress prior to setting the baseline.

Jim,

Your suggestion worked perfectly. I just changed the name of the baseline
file and both summary tasks updated.

Thanks so much for your help.
