physical memory dump

Using windows XP, Word 2003, while working on a doc, the computer begins making a weird noise, and then goes
to a blue screen where it says it's dumping physical memory. Why would it do this? Whats the fix? Thanks.

Similar error when printing document or saving after
successful print except computer reboots by itself, very
difficult to get exact message other than memory dump.
Have already reloaded printer driver (HP 2000)
