Pick from List

I had a spreadsheet which I made several copies of. Each
spreadsheet had the same data and formats. I used pick
from list to fill in data in columns.

In one of the spreadsheets for some reason little blocks
are appearing where spaces should appear for items in the
pick from list combobox. When I select that item, it
appears normally. I also prints normally. This behavior
did not occur in any of the other spreadsheets.

Why would those blocks appear?
