Picture in text box

I want to insert a picture in a text box and have the
text wrap around the picture. I am not having any luck.
If I can't achieve this result with a text box, is there
a better way with tables, frames, or something? Thank you.

I have Word 2003. Sorry if I am being thick, but it
seems your instructions are how to have the text box fit
on the page. I need to have the text inside the text box
wrap around the picture inside the text box. When I try
to format the picture inside the text box, the wrapping
options are greyed out.

Hi, Susan. Either a text box or frame should work.
Create the text box or frame, insert the picture, right-
click on the edge of the text box or frame, left-click on
Format Text Box/Frame | Layout | check the "Float over
text" box and select a wrapping style in Word 97, or
click on "Square" or "Tight" in Word 2000-2003.

Hi, Susan.

No, you're not being thick. Your original post said "I want to insert a
picture in a text box and have the text wrap around the picture", and my
instructions do achieve this result, but they do not achieve your
revised objective "to have the text inside the text box wrap around the
picture inside the text box". AFAIK you can't put a floating text box
or frame inside another floating text box or frame.

Do you need text OUTSIDE the text box to wrap around the text box, as
well as text INSIDE the text box to wrap around the picture inside the
text box? If so, then you might be able to do this with a multi-column
layout with continuous section breaks before and after. If not, then
you don't need to put any text inside the text box with the picture...
just put the picture in the text box, and put the text outside the text
box. What are you trying to end up with?

It sounds like what I can kinda make it work your way. I
am creating my father-in-law's war memoirs. I have lots
of continuous section breaks with mixed column formats,
inserted pictures, etc. But in this one section I want to
set it apart from the rest, have it outlined in a box,
grey the background, and have text and a picture inside
with the text wrapped around it. I tried it with section
breaks and put a border around the two paragraphs,
inserted the picture and was able to make the text wrap.
But I am not able to grey the background. Should I be
satisfied with what I got?

If you can get a border, you should be able to get shading as well, from the
same dialog (Format | Borders and Shading).
