Picture Insert

When I try to insert a picture into the word doc, it comes
up with just a black border, white on the inside. There
are handles surrounding the box but it will not let me
resize it or move it. I can not even get the picture tool
bar to be activated.

I have used this method many times in the past to insert
pictures but can not figure out what has changed as to why
I can not do it now. When I get the option to edit the
picture, I can get the picutre that way, I can do a copy
and paste with the picture. Any thoughts?

On the View tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for "Picture
placeholders."

Thank you, I was thinkig it was simple. I wonder how it
got checked in the first place? Oh well thanks again.

This is one of the settings that Word definitely can set on its own, behind
your back. It usually does so when its capacity to display graphics is
strained. The only time I've experienced it was in a document where every
page was a chart, but that was on an old computer with very little free HD
space.
