Picture issue in Publisher 2003

I searched and did not find my issue addressed. I selected a picture from
Microsoft clip art. it's showing a red x in IE and shows in firefox.

I've loaded the index.html file and the index_files folder (everyone seems
to forget this step) on the server via filezilla (ftp). ( ive redone it now
at least 20 times thinking I could fix it but no luck)

I have just one picture that has a red x in IE (and shows very crappy in
Firefox)

A friend told me this was the problem: v:shapes="_x0000_s1295" told me to
turn it into a jpg but I like the transparant background.

I've checked allow png as a graphics format. no change red x.

I'm using a Microsoft product, a microsoft image and a microsoft browser and
I get a red x.

I gave in and turned it into a jpg. I 'm learning gifs in Firefox and
Publisher have issues. ,
I opened Publisher created a red square the same color as my background
dropped that microsoft image on it saved it as a jpg cropped it and dropped
it in. its perfect in both browsers.

Some .gif have problems, but not all. If you don't have an image editing
program, try www.irfanview.com . It has a pretty good transparent gif tool.
Png files will also support transparency, but they tend to be larger files.
