picture re-sizing problem

How come when I change a picture from 1024x768 to 160x160 to e-mail it using
Microsoft Office Picture Manager and then when I change it back the picture
is distorted? The picture was of my son that I was using for a desktop
background.

Clearly, you are not preserving the aspect ratio. And, once you change from
the higher resolution to a lower resolution, you can expand the picture, but
you'll never get back the detail that you lost. Use PKZIP or other
third-party tool to compress for e-mailing, not changing the resolution.

As this newsgroup is for Microsoft Access database software, and I am not a
user of Picture Manager, I can't tell you specifically what to click, but
there will be a place to specify that you want to preserve the aspect ratio.
In the meanwhile, you'd be well advised to search for a newsgroup devoted to
Picture Manager to get better answers.
