Picture size in two columns

I just upgraded to Office 2003 Professional from 2000. Now when I format two columns and insert pictures they do not fill up the column, but are very small. They did in Office 2000. I do not want to have to open each picture and increase its size to 142%. What can I do to set a default size in the program? I do dozens of documents in this fashion every day and some have 25+ pictures. I do not have time to reset each one.
