Whenever I copy data, THEN start Excel 2000, then paste the data into
a cell in the worksheet, a PICTURE icon is pasted into the cell
(rather than the data).

To paste the data, I then have to re-copy the data then paste it into
the cell.

Why is the Picture-thing happening and can I prevent it?

It happens in Excel 2002 too. After you open Excel, choose Edit>Paste
Special, and you'll see that all the options are pictures, not data.

Open Excel, *then* copy the data, and it will paste correctly.
