Pictures added in document keep disappearing. Where are they?

I inserted pictures into my document but they disappear & only the placement
lines are there. Some of them printed, some didn't. I want to email the file
as an attachment but am not sure they will see the pictures. Help!

Hi =?Utf-8?B?SUJSTg==?=,
I inserted pictures into my document but they disappear & only the placement
lines are there.
Is "Picture placeholders" activated in Tools/Options/View? If it is, try
turning it off and see if that helps.

No, it was not on. I tried turning it on & that didn't help either. Pictures
pop up randomly but mostly are not there. Just placeholder. Thanks anyway.

I have the same problem and cannot seem to figure out the issue. I
discovered this problem using MS Word 2003. I had no graphics problems at
all, then one day, noticed that the graphic images in my docs did not appear,
nor can I manipulate the image size. The placement lines are visible and I
can see the image in print preview mode and they print too. But I cannot see
them. Still searching for answers.

I have the same problem. My graphics have disappeared from both the main
body of documents and in headers. This problem occured spontaneously after I
had been using Office 2003 for sometime. I can see the graphics in PRint
Preview and print them too, but I can not see nor adjust the graphic itself
in any of the viewing modes.

Try this one too. It just worked for me. Under TOOLS | OPTIONS | VIEW |
check "White Space Between Pages". Once I checked this, it allowed me to see
the missing headers in which I had placed my graphics. It also seems to have
solved the rest of my graphics viewing issues too.

Best of luck.

I'm having the exact same problem. The "White Space Between Pages" did not
fix the disappearing graphics. My video card is a 256MB Nvidia FX5500. This
appears to be much more powerful than the previous computer, on which I did
not have this problem. Are we still trying to research an answer to this
issue?

Thanks,
Roy Rutherford

I have this problem for over a year now, tried everything. Download ATI
latest driver only work for a period of time, that is my experience. I done
that 3 times over the past year, latest Dec 25. I have ATI 9600 graphic card,
WIndow XP SP2, Office 2003 (tried XP), LCD with 12ms(tried CRT), 1GB ram. 1.
ATI tech support tried to resolve this issue from Dec 04 through Jan 05, no
solution, they said it is MS problem, MS took over till Feb 05, told to
remove Adobe Acrobat 6, known issue conflict with SP2, I did, but no fix and
they have no solution. 2. Reinstalled Office and Window, no fix. 3. Took
Garfield's advise, turn down the acceleration setting and disabled all
DirectX, it works but computer seems a little slower. 4.Then
Downloaded new ATI drivers and able to turn acceleration back to high, only
worked for awhile, problem reoccured, still having problem from time to
time. When it happens, need to close all office application, and reopen word
first, if no go, restart computer. If your pictures disappear at all times,
turn acceleration down to low. I think is SP2 problem. Anyone out there has
better luck solving this issue?
