Pictures, clip art etc are not showing in my documents

Something is checked in my Word program that does not allow any pictures,
clip art, etc to show/appear in my documents. I'm NOT a new user and I can't
figure this one out. VERY FRUSTRATED!!! Ver. Word 2003 SP3

On the View tab of Tools | Options, make sure that "Drawings" is checked and
"Picture placeholders" is NOT checked.
