pictures, format and resolution

I have had a problem with the distortion of pictures in reports if they are
high resolution. I use bmp because they load faster than jpg, etc. Is there a
way to get clear picts on a report if they are high resolution? Also, any
general rule-of-thumb for picts on reports would be appreciated.

First, there's no need to "overdo" the resolution of pictures on a report,
particularly if you are using the "Zoom" option, so they will be resized...
you're putting your image quality in someone else's hands when you do that.
I have found that it works reasonably well for images of modest resolution,
however.

The best way is to manipulate and resize the images to the size you are
displaying, using your graphics software so you don't have to let the
reporting feature do any resizing for you.
