Pictures in HTTPS directory Will Not Show Up

B

BS_Scott

I am having trouble with pictures in my newsletter. They do not show up and I think it has something to do with all of my pictures being in an https directory

I have never had this problem before we moved to a new server, now all I get are red x's instead of pictures. I use Front page for creating my newsletters, and I had a couple other people attempt to duplicate this using Front Page with the same results

Here's what I have always done in the past. I open my newsletter template, then go to my web site...copy the pictures and verbage I want, then pop back into Front Page and paste it. Now my pictures are just x out....but the verbage shows up

How do I work around this? Do I need to copy my pics to an unsecure directory to make them show up?

You need to be sure that the link to the image are absolute back to your web site, as
https://www.domainname.com/images/imagename.jpg

An while working in FP, you must have open internet connection in order to see the images.

I have cable so internet is always on. :

The links seem to be complete, here is an example: https://www.bowwowshop.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/t_hip.jp

and this works/ shows up fine if I drop that into internet explorerto see the image. But If I go to my web site and copy that picture or any other then paste into FP it just shows the X. Please try it and see if it does same for you

Thanks

Ixne my last post.....your right!!! It's dropping the word Merchant whenever I copy and paste it!! That's so odd...but If I open the pic in explorer and then copy it in it works fine. Wonder why it is doing that. lo

Thanks!!

Copy, move or import your files to FP first
Then drag/drop to the page using folder view.

try just a normal url starting with http://

https:// is to do with secure connections using Secure Socket Layering (SSL) used
for sending creditcard details or other senstive information over the net.

You may not have a https:// connection set up with your host - this is something
they have to configure and I don't know why you need a secure connection for
looking at photographs that a normal http:// connection can't handle?

They said the pictures are included in an https directory so there will not be any issues with mixing secure and non-secure data.

You can normally avoid that issue by always using relative URLs.to images within your web.

That is correct
- all your images and files need to be in the FP Web/Site running at the https URL in order to get a secure link on the page
