Pictures jump around in Word 2000

I use the newsletter in my Microsoft Office Suite - Word 2000 & when I insert
pictures I usually format them - go to layout & choose 'tight' & either left
or right. The pictures hardly ever stay put. Sometimes I have to put the
picture behind the text & then remove the words over the picture. It drives
me nuts when I have a 12 -14 page document with anywhere from 2 to 6 pictures
on a page.
Any ideas?

Go into the formatting / layout section / Advanced and set your picture
position (both vertical and Horizontal) to "to the right of" and "below" ...
"PAGE"

Cold here in MN also.
I have tried and tried your method. In Word 2003 in a document that is over
300 pages long. How do I change the format of picture placement like you
suggest for the whole document. Each time I go in and do a single picture it
disappears from my active document. There has got to be an easier way to do
this.

Thanks for any advice in advance...
