Pictures not printing

Win XP Pro, Office 2003.
Pictures in the body of emails received are viewed fine, but when the
message is printed the pictures are replaced by placeholders with a small
red x in the top left corner of the placeholders.
Any suggestions to solve this problem will be appreciated.
