pictures or objects don't show up

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I get a red X and a message that I have insufficient memory on some graphics or objects in the pptx file (not all). I have 4Gbs of memory on this laptop so memory can't be the problem. Furthermore they show up in my file on my desktop (newer IMac but also with 4 Gb of memory). Any suggestions on the problem and fix? Thanks.
