pictures vanish when scrolling

If i insert clip art or pictures into word, everything is OK till i scroll
the page and anything that was scrolled out of view vanishes when i scroll it
back, yet are still there when i goto the print preview.
it's not my graphics card or PC that cannot keep as i have 516mb of ram and
my graphics card has 256mb of ram of it's own and it runs Doom 3 and Half
life 2 without breaking into a sweat.
I have reinstalled office 2003 Pro onto a newly formatted drive and still
have this problem!!
Office 2000 pro works no prob's and i'll have to reinstall this as i cannot
work the with the way 2003 is running.
Thanks Microsoft for wasting my money!!!

Hi =?Utf-8?B?Q2hleg==?=,

Despite your protestations to the contrary, this does sound very much like a
problem with the graphics card DRIVER. Word works graphics card drivers very
hard, and it's not unusual to need to update the driver when you get a new
version of Word. Check with the manufacturer whether there isn't a driver
optimized to work with Word 2003.

Thanks for your help Cindy, but i have the latest drivers & updates for Word.
if a word prosseing program with a Bitmap image can work a graphics harder
than one of the latest games like Doom 3 and video manipulation software that
i also run, then theres somthing seriously wrong with word. althoug I have
found that pressing a key like the space bar brings back the image.

Thanks for the tip about pressing a key.

FWIW, it's not just displaying the image that Word is working on. It's also
calculating the page layout, including text wrapping around the tables, page and
line breaks, whether paragraphs are set to keep together, etc.

The "disappear" problem does seem to be more prevalent in documents created in
earlier versions of Word. It might be worth testing whether you see exactly the
same behavior in a new document (created from a Normal.dot template that Word
2003 has generated) vs. a document you created in Word 2000.
