How can I make a picture stay on a fixed position on a page and not move if
the text around is changed?

You can set the location of the picture relative to the page, but it will be
anchored to a given text paragraph and will move with it to another page,
where it will have the same location relative to the new page.

What version of Word?

Assuming Word 2007... right-click the pictures and choose Text Wrapping -
More Layout Options. In the Advanced Layout dialog, Picture Position tab,
use Absolute position under both Horizontal and Vertical, and set "to the
right of" and "below" to Page. Note that this cannot be done for Vertical if
"Move object with text" is selected.

Note that if the paragraph containing the anchor moves to a different page
(or is deleted), the picture will be affected.

To keep a picture on a particular page, you would need to insert it into a
header or footer, and then drag it into the desired position. To make it
appear only on that page, you would need to either use Different first page
(page layout setting) or to insert section breaks, turning Link to Previous
off (header/footer setting).

What is wrong when the option Relative position is grey-marked so I can not
choose it?

I have a picture at the bottom of page 12. Absolut position 13 cm below page.
If I add a little text above the picture it will move to the bottom of page
13. Now my problem is that where the picture was at page 12 there is a blank
area. What to do? I have word 2007.

Where are you seeing "Relative position"? I see "Alignment," "Book layout,"
and "Absolute position." If you select "Alignment," you can choose
"relative to."

Pictures are most easily handled In Line With Text if possible. If two
pictures can't fit on the same page, then what do you expect to happen? Keep
in mind that each wrapped (not inline) picture must be anchored to a text
paragraph; if that paragraph moves to the next page, the picture will go
with it.

Hello,

I found this thread and I am looking for some help. It would greatly be appreciated. I have a picture anchored to the sentence above it in report and the picture stays on the same page as the sentence it is anchored to even if it ends up in the footer. Of course, it does not look nice in the footer. My boss does not want me to insert a page break in order for it all to go onto the next page. Any suggestions on how to not let the picture end up in the footer?

Kirk
