For some unexplicable reason, the pilcrow symbol has permeated all of my word documents in Office XP and I can't figure out how to remove it. It's on every line. It is also on blank documents. It does not show when I print. Can anyone help? thanks

You have inadvertently either pressed the ShowAll button or under Tools,
Options, View tab you have checked the Paragraph Marks option under
Formatting Mark section.

However, you have a pilcrow at the end of every line??? A pilcrow is an end
of paragraph mark created by pressing the Enter (Break) key. You should not
be inserting a break at the end of every line: Word automatically wraps text
to the next line. You should only press the enter key when you need a new
paragraph.

TF: I checked what you suggested but that wasn't the problem. And yes, the pilcrow/paragraph symbol is after every sentence. Do you have any other suggestions?

TF: Problem solved. I double checked your suggestion- "all" was checked in Formating Marks. I don't know how that happened, but I'm glad it's solved. thank you so much for your help. Before coming to this website, I called tech support and they couldn't figure it out. He even directed me to uninstall office. Anyway, thanks.

Well there's a good lesson there: tech support or the Word Newsgroup? No
contest!
