I have a worksheet with tabular data and a pivot table on that range (eg
based on column 1 as the row data). When you click on the pivot table first
parameter, you can select what values are to be included in the pivot table
results by clicking on the checkboxes - the values displayed are all
possible values of that parameter (column 1).
If I save a copy of this workbook as a different file, then change the data
in column 1, and refresh the pivot table, then click on the same parameter,
the list of possible values appears to be a combination of the old and new
values.
As another variant, if I change values in column 1 so that one of the
possible values is no longer present, then the pivot table still shows it as
one of the possible values when I click on the parameter. In fact it seems
the pivot table remembers all possible values ever present in the table.
This appears to be another Microsoft "undocumented feature"
Has anyone found this or have a method using VBA or otherwise to reset the
list of possible values to match the data in the table?
