Pivot Table Limitations in 2000

I have Excel 2000 and have a database with three tables 1 has 1000
records, 2 has 3000 and 3 has 3000. I created a pivot table and can
put in row 1 and 2 , but when I put in row 3 it give me an error
saying there are too many rows or cols. what is causing this?
