Pivot Table Option : Enable Drill to Details

I have used this option for the last few months in a working workbook, and it
is a huge timesaver in it's job. Recently, I'm finding that when I drill
down to the details, there is a problem with viewing the data. Instead of
having the data as it exists on the data tab, the last character is missing
and at the fron of the data in each cell, there is what appears to be a "box"
type of character. This is most disruptive. Can anyone tell me what this is
caused from and how to get rid of it?

Thanks as always!!

Hi,

I haven't seen this problem, but box like characters suggest that there is a
hidden character in the data range. My guess is the source data is not
manually entered spreadsheet data, instead it is comimg from and external
data source, either copied into Excel or downloaded through a connection of
some sort.

If this guess is correct I think you should look at the data source. Or in
Excel you might try to clean the data before you put it in the pivot table.
A quick check - suppose cell A2 contains data which causes this problem, in
an empty cell enter =CODE(A2)

This function should return a number between 48-57, 66-90, or 97-122
