Hello,
I frequently run pivot tables pointing to Access
(external data source) and it seems I have run into a
problem. When I point my Excel pivot table to an Access
table, I have no issues. When I point my Excel pivot
table to an Access query, it is returning some
transactions multiple times. Can someone tell me why some
transactions are returned multiple times when pointing to
queries? Why doesn't this happen when I point to tables?
I have included an example of my issue below.

Example:
Table in Access:
Number of transactions for particular SKU = 1
Units = 10
Price = $5
Total price = $50
Query in Access for particular SKU = 1:
Number of transactions = 1
Units = 10
Price = $5
Total price = $50
Pivot table in Excel pointing to Access table:
Number of entries in pivot for particular SKU = 1
Units = 10
Price = $5
Total price = $50
Pivot table in Excel pointing to Access query - this is
where I have my problem. Some entries are showing up
multiple times in my pivot even though there's only one
occurrence in the Access query:
Number of entries in pivot for particular SKU = 11
Units = 110
Price = $5
Total price = $550
