Pivot Table refresh changes data - worrying!

I have a database in dbase format (which I can't change becasue of client
requirements). I have linked to this via ODBC to create pivot tables in Excel
2000. I have then copy/pasted the output into a report and to my horror I
have noticed that if I refresh the pivot table the values change. Click
refresh 5 times and I get 5 different answers!

Does anyone have any experience of this problem?
Is this
a. because bdase is rubbish
b. because msqry32.exe is rubbish
c. both

The Fox Pro driver is version 6.01.8629.01. Excel 2000. XP Pro.

Any assistance would be welcome. I can't upgrade to newer Office due to
corporate licencing etc...
