Placing a project "on hold"

R

Randy at Carhartt

We have a project that will be placed on hold for a few
months. What is the best way to put an active project
(partially completed) on hold for a period of time,
without having to modify each individual task?

We are using MSP 2003 with Server 2003.

Thanks!

An approach that I personally recommend is to reschedule the Remaining Work
for all uncompleted tasks into the future. Here's how to do it:

1. Open the project in question
2. Click Tools - Tracking - Update Project
3. Select the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after" option
4. Enter the date AFTER WHICH you want work to begin (for example, if work
is going to resume Monday, September 13, then enter September 12 in this
field)
5. Make sure the "Entire project" option is selected
6. Click the OK button

As the software reschedules uncompleted work, it may encounter inflexible
constraints, such as Finish No Later Than, that will restrict how it
reschedules each task. Hope this helps.
