play software for 98 on xp

Once you install the program you can right click the executable file the
click properties then click the compatibility tab the select the operating
system you want it to operate under in the "compatibility mode" box. This
should solve your problem!

And this relates to MS Office how, exactly?

There are no guarantees that older software will work on newer operating
systems.
