Playing AVI file

I have a AVI file that will insert and play on home PC. I volunteer at a
Elementary school where we do a in house morning show. We use PowerPoint in
the show. When I try to go thru the insert ... Movie and Sound ... Movie
from File. Nothing seems to happen. Looks like it doesn't even try to bring
the AVI file in. It doesn't even get to the point of playing it. James

and where the AVI file came from (digital camera?).
