Playing .pps files in Open Office 3.0, Mac OS X

Is there any way to automatically play .pps files people email me in Open
Office 3.0, Mac OS X?

When I click on the attachment, the Open Office original slide presentation
appears, but Slide Show will not play, nor will any audio clips in the
presentation.

Thanks!

You'll have to associate .ppt files with OpenOffice.
Try doing a Control+click on any PowerPoint file,
select Open With and Other..,
find OpenOffice in the file list and make sure that
the "Always Open With" checkbox is ON, and
you should be able to open PowerPoint files in OO
from now on.

Hi,

I don't think Impress has the ability to open a presentation and go
directly into a slide show. If you use File > Save As in Impress
(assuming that Save As doesn't cause Impress to hang so bad it takes 7
or 8 force quits to get your computer working again like it just did for
me), you'll discover that there's not a "show" option. I'll take that to
mean that Impress also does not honor a "show" when opening, either.

My Impress(ion) of the philosophy of OpenOffice is that anything that is
automatic, such as starting a presentation automatically, running a
macro automatically, calling a macro from another macro, etc is
considered a security risk and is therefore not allowed.

In other words, what you want is a bad thing. Therefore, you are bad
person for even thinking you want it. The fact that Microsoft did it
proves the point.
