Please advise! setup cannot find ProPlus*.cab

Hi all,

I am getting a message during the setup of Office 2007 Pro that is
preventing me from installing it. It says that the file
ProPlus.ww\ProPls.cab cannot be found. Of course I searched the CD and it
isn't there.

Any thoughts or suggestions? How frustrating this is!

TIA,

DW

I never heard of that file and when I search the web, yours is the
ONLY post anywhere on the web that mentions it. So it's not a common
problem. I don't believe it's part of MS Office??? The only ProPlus I
found is a web site that offers Crystal Reports forms integration
software. Does that sound familiar to you?

You'll want to search your hard drive to see if you can decipher if
you have software on your system with that name.

Sorry. Maybe someone else has an idea. But with NOTHING else on that
name on the web, I doubt anyone else has had the same issues.

Good luck...

Are you trying to install Office Pro or Pro Plus? Pro Plus is a volume
license, while Pro can be purchased retail.

Yes, it is Pro Plus, and it did successfully install one time before, but
when I had to reformat my drive and tried again and that is when it didn't
find the file.

There are quite a bit of Proplus posts here on this forum, so it isn't a
unique problem.

Thank you so much!

Okay, then the problem is that your local installation source no longer
exists.

http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...d9e2-4cdf-bb63-53090da8fd0d1033.mspx?mfr=true
explains this a bit.

You might want to try copying all the files from the installation CD to a
folder on your harddrive and install from there. I don't know if that will
work or not, but it won't hurt to try.

Also check your CD to make sure it is the Professional Plus install disk.
ProPlus.ww won't be on an Office 2007 Professional (as opposed to
Professional Plus) install disk.

Perhaps some of the links at
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=ATSA,ATSA:2006-01,ATSA:en&q=ProPlus.ww
will give you some ideas. I am not an installation or setup expert, and I
know very little about these types of enterprise / group policy
installations. So if nobody else pops in with ideas or your IT staff can't
resolve it, you may have to give Microsoft a call.

WOW, Echo thank you for all your help. I'm really grateful. As it turns
out, I was able to download the entire Office Pro Plus from a web site and
install it from there. At first, I wasn't aware of that option, hence my
coming here to post. I run a non-profit organization and TechSoup has really
good partners that sell licenses to 501.c.3's.

THANKS AGAIN!

And here I was, feeling like this was a pretty lame response. ;-) I'm glad
to know it helped you get going again.
