Please don't require me to dig up old product CDs to get updates!

Jared Jacobs

My parents have six kids. I'm grown up and I've moved across the country.
Three of my little siblings are still pre-teens. My folks have 3 desktop
computers, 3 laptops, and literally hundreds of software titles. Software CDs
are mostly kept in one room, but it's impossible to find them after moves and
such. I try to keep these computers up-to-date whenever I'm in town, but it's
really hard when an update fails mid-way through because you're making me dig
up an old product CD. You can do better than that!

No, YOU can do better than that. Keep your CDs for programs installed on
your computer with you, not in some central location in your parent's house.
Microsoft does not decide where you store your CDs, you do.

Service packs, updates, and security patches may require the Office XP
CD-ROM
