Obvious answers:
All types of users. My daughter, starting in 4th grade and definitely a
beginner in "computing"; my brother, a seasoned gamer; myself, a systems
administrator. We all use WP often, and presentation software to some
extent.
The benefit of word processing is that it provides efficient tools for
working with textual information. Most word processors have some tools
for changing the graphical properties (appearance) of the text.
The benefit of presentation software is that it provides efficient tools
for working with graphical information (making images and animations,
and sorting them). Most presentation programs have good tools for adding
sound and textual components to the graphics, and indeed, many
presentations have text as the main content.
