Please Help Simple Formula or Macro

I'm in the middle of a project which has thousands of rows and the column I
need to sort has unwanted text for the first nine characters. Could someone
please help me with a formula or macro which will remove the first nine
characters of a cell. The cell contents is alpha numeric. Thank you Peter
