Hello,
I have been using the same Outlook 2000 configuration for
about 2 years and have just begun experiencing strange
problems during the past month. I have about 8 mail
accounts set up in outlook to send mail, but all accounts
use the same msn pop3 and smtp servers to send and receive
mail. MSN is my isp. Recently when I try to send mail I
receive errors for some of the mail accounts, but not
all. For example, I may have 6 messages in my outbox to
send using different accounts for each, all going through
the same msn pop3 server, but maybe only 2 or 3 will be
sent and the remaining messages won't be sent and I
receive a mail delivery error for the unsent mail saying a
tpc/ip connection can't be established for the account. I
can continue to send mail from the accounts that are
working, and again all these accounts are set up the same
as the ones that don't work except for the name of the
account and the reply-to address, and all go through the
same msn mail servers. If I delete the mail accounts that
I receive error messages on and rebuild them exactly as
they were when they received errors I can send mail using
them again, but usually within 24 hours to 72 hours I
begin receiving the same mail delivery errors on those
accounts and am unable to use them again. This doesn't
make any sense to me because all the accounts use the same
msn pop3 and smtp servers and the same user name and
password for authentication at the msn email server. I
had been using this configuration for about 2 years and
have only begun experiencing this problem recently. I
verified that my internet and isp connection is good. I
recently upgraded to internet explorer 6 form IE 5.5 about
the time this problem began, but I am not certain that
this problem began after the upgrade to IE6 or not. I
don't know if IE6 would cause any problems for outlook or
not, but that is the only recent change to the system.
And if IE6 would cause problems wouldn't it affect all
mail accounts and not just some? I have Office 2000
running on a Windows 2000 machine. Any help with this
would be greatly appreciated.
