Please help! Running Win98 2nd and Office 2000. Most of
the time when I am in a document and I direct my mouse
pointer to the left border of the document or the upper
left corner is causes my computer to crash. Also sometimes
happens with a right click of the mouse. I do not have
Norton's. In fact I have very little software installed
on my computer. I have uninstalled office and reinstalled,
and all of my programs are up to date with patches, etc.
I had a very important document to create the other day
and my system crashed 37 times, mainly if a try to save,
print, or use the "File" option or cut, copy or paste. My
computer is very, very, old but cannot upgrade at the
present time. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
..

This sounds very much like a hardware issue, rather than software.

It may be time .....

You know it makes sense.

First, clean out your computer. See the following FAQs for help: See
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/LockedFiles.htm,
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm

Then do you have a default printer installed? It is possible that the
printer driver is corrupt. Remove the printer and reinstall it again.
