Please, I need immediate help

I tried to open the back end today and I got the following error message.
"Operation invalid without a current index". This is error 3019.when the db
opens there is no tab selected and no tables can be seen. Strangely enough,
If I open the front end I can see all linked tables with the data no problem.
I work in access 97. Please help
