Pls Help: Selecting View Always Jumps to Last Record

I created a custom contact view (Table, without "New Item row"). Whenever I
select the view, Outlook highlights the very last record in the list (in the
Zs).

This does NOT happen with off-the-shelf views, custom views of type "Card",
nor custom "Table" views having the "New Item row."

Please help. This is annoying!
