"+" plus sign

The "+" on most of my 3000 contacts has been deleted when I imported a backup
from my old computer using Outlook 2000 to my new computer using Outlook 2003
therefore instead of seeing +447956123464 I only see 447956123464.

I syncnonise my outlook to my palm treo 650 therefore this has now caused an
annoying problem when I have to manually add a "+" to all my calls.

Is there an easy way for me to add a "+" to all my contacts or will I have
to manually go into every contact to make the correction?

Thx

Michele

Just go back and transfer your backup data correctly.
You never import Outlook data, unless you like this sort of problem.
Open your backup and copy the data from it.

Thank you so much for your reply and your comments are duly noted for future
restores. I have been importing for years and didn't know that it can cause
problems until now.

Unfortunately when I attempted to open the backup from cd I encountered the
following error: The Personal Folder file .pst d:\Outlookbackup.pst could not
be opened. The file may not be compatible with this version of Outlook or it
may be corrupted. The backup on my hard drive is a copy of the current data
with the missing "+"'s

Please advise if there is another option available to me to add the "+"
easily to all my contacts. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Your post is confusing.
Once can never open a PST file from a CD. It must be on a hard drive and
have its read only attribute removed.
However, the error you are reporting suggests you are also trying to use a
PST file created in Outlook 2003 in an earlier version. Are you? What's the
entire story here?

Sorry yes you are quite right, I have now copied the back up to my hard
drive and I have been able to open the backup successfully. However this
backup is a couple of months old now and I have created many new contacts and
updated some others since so I will still have to filter through and choose
which contacts I want to copy so I think this defeats the object of making
the job simple.

The backup from my old computer is from Outlook 2000, my new computer has
Outlook 2003

Is there a find and replace option or somewhere where I am add the "+" in a
dial option? Otherwise I may just be better off amended the telephone no of
each contact

Outlook has no search and replace. For static data fields you can export to
Excel, do your find and replace there, then import back but that usually
does not work for the derived fields like your phone number fields or File
As... field.

You can set Outlook to automatically add the country field to local numbers
in Outlook's dialing options: Contacts > Actions > Call Contact > New
call... That preference will only apply to newly created contacts, not to
existing or imported Contacts.
