plz help: sent items and incoming mail

2 Problems I need help with plz

1) The option to 'save sent items to sent items folder'
is falling off intermittently. I re-tick it and sent
items save to the folder, but later down the track the
tick is gone and sent items no longer save. Does anyone
know why this happens and/or the resolve?

2) Incoming emails are coming through in bulk lots when
outlook is closed and re-opened or I move from one folder
to another. Opening it with /cleanveiws seems to fix it
for a short while, but then they come through in bulk
again. Does anyone know why this happens and/or the
resolve?

Running Win XP, Outlook XP SP2, Exchange 2002 SP2
